The European Student Film Festival (ESFF) is a three‐day event in March 2010 for students in Grades 9 to 13 (MYP4 to DP2), aged between 14 and 18 years, who are attending a school that offers film as a course subject or supports and embraces film making within the school environment.

Over this period, approximately 90 students from mainly international schools in Europe and America, will come together in Switzerland to take part in a number of exhilarating and enlightening events organised for them by the ESFF.

A number of professionals from the film and television industry will run a series of inspiring workshops that offer the students a unique insight into the working of the industry as well as enhance the students' technical knowledge of film making. The 2010 workshops will concentrate on motivated camera movements, audio dubbing and mixing, moving and blocking actors and special fx in post‐production.

All the knowledge acquired will be put to test and accumulate into the making of short films in the so‐called 12 Hour Challenge, during which the students work side‐by‐side for an intense yet invigorating twelve hours in which they write, film and edit a short film.

In the evenings there will be, prior to the disco, screenings of the films that the students have sent in for the ESFF competition. The films will compete for the Jury Award and the Audience Award and will be judged by a jury consisting of individuals from the film industry. The winners of the awards will receive film equipment donated by the festival sponsors as well as a place in the ESFF's hall of fame. For the rest of their lives the winning students will be able to add to their CV that they have won an award. In addition to that, every student will receive a personalized jury report of their film which will give them

constructive feedback and enforce their film maker's qualities.

The 2nd edition of the event will take place from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 March 2010 in the Haut‐Lac International Centre in the heart of the Swiss Pre‐Alps. The cost of participation is Euro 300 per student  and includes full boarding, participation in the workshops and use of equipment.

Travel expenses to the Haut‐Lac International Centre are not included.
