A View of the Festival
Bringing students together
Another year, another great festival. We were pleased to welcome back some familiar school delegations.
Seth Ruef brought an talented group from Luxembourg.
Claire Olmez brought her biggest group yet from Izmir, Turkey.
We were happy to see new schools attending as well. The students from Barcelona proved to be vibrant and enthusiastic film makers.
The international nature of the festival continued with students attending from Bucharest, Paris, Lausanne, Vevey and Geneva.
There was even a small delegation from Georgia.

Professional Workshops
The workshops this year proved a perfect balance of film theory and practice.
Directing actors run by Jude Mulligan gave the students invaluable tips and direct practice with communicating action and reaction of actors. The art of cinematography was explored in Tim Klaasse’s workshop. Tim screened films, explained some key concepts and had professional cameras in the student’s hands all in a finely tuned two hour workshop. Simon Bunt captured the student’s imagination in his sound work shop. He screened examples of excellent work with foleys. He then provided impressive sound equipment and sent the students off to create.
Nicolas Imhof provided students with a professional glimpse into post-production – he helped students develop their skills in color correction.

No student can resist a challenge
You may add to this before or after, but the title of you film must reflect it’s content. You must include something in your film that you learned in one of your workshops. Make your workshop leaders proud... AND OFF THEY WENT.
On Saturday they had 12 hours to script, direct, shoot and edit. They surprised us all with comedy, horror, mystery and suspense films.
This year’s 12 hour challenge began in mystery. Greg Jemison introduced the challenge on Friday – “the Title of your film is not complete ....it includes the word ‘MOTION’. |
